Health science professionals are in high demand throughout the United States, in both urban and rural settings. EA’s Health Sciences degree and certificate programs offer training in a variety of fields — and most certificates can be completed in as little as one year.

Which Program Interests You?

  • Emergency Medical Studies: Provide pre-hospital medical care at the emergency medical technician, advanced emergency medical technician, or certified emergency paramedic level. The Emergency Medical Studies program offers a variety of degrees and certificates.

  • Health Sciences: Springboard your career in healthcare with an Associate of Applied Science in Health Sciences, Associate of Science in Health Sciences: Pre-Professional Studies, or a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences. The Health Sciences programs can be completed in four to eight semesters.

  • Medical Assistant: Provide administrative and clinical support to doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals. The Medical Assistant program can be completed in three semesters and includes a 160-hour externship in a medical office.
  • Medical Coding and Billing Specialist: Provide diagnostic and procedural coding and billing services in settings such as clinics, physician offices, hospitals, managed care organizations, and private billing or insurance companies. The Medical Coding and Billing Specialist program can be completed in three semesters.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant: Collect and process patient specimens — urine, blood, cultures, etc. — to assist with diagnosis. The Medical Laboratory Assistant program can be completed in two semesters. Certification requires students to be at least 17 years of age and complete a minimum of 120 hours in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Nursing: Eastern Arizona College’s Nursing Program prepares students for careers as Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Licensed Nursing Assistants (LNAs) through our Certificate, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) Programs.

  • Patient Care Technician: Provide direct patient care (e.g. wound care, EKG and telemetry monitoring, and phlebotomy) alongside doctors, nurses, and other medical professionals in a variety of settings. The Patient Care Technician program can be completed in two semesters, including NUR 100.
  • Phlebotomist Technician: Perform blood collection through venipuncture and capillary puncture. The Phlebotomy Technician program can be completed in two semesters and includes a minimum of 50 successful blood draws and 10 successful capillary punctures.
  • Radiologic Technology: Specialize in x-ray and other diagnostic imaging examinations on patients. Upon completion of prerequisite coursework and admission into the program, the Radiologic Technology degree can be completed in five semesters.
