Paramedicine
Eastern Arizona College is an Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services EMT training center. Our accredited programs, which include associate degrees and certificates, offer courses that meet the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards. Our courses prepare students to sit the Arizona and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician certification exams, leading to both national and state certification as a paramedic. Our EMT Paramedic Certificate program is limited to 20 students and requires prior admission.
Which Paramedicine Program is Right for You?
To become certified as an EMT at any level in Arizona, you must successfully complete a department-approved training course, submit the required forms, and successfully pass the National Registry written examination within three attempts and a score of at least 70% within one year of the official course ending date.
The goal of the Eastern Arizona College EMS Program is “to prepare competent entry-level Paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains with or without exit points at the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and/or Emergency Medical Technician, and/or Emergency Medical Responder levels (CoAEMSP, 2022).”
To accomplish this goal effectively, our program has pursued and been awarded continuing accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), upon recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). This accreditation is based on a rigorous evaluation process that ensures that numerous standards of excellence in EMS education are met.
What does this mean for you? You can be assured that our program will meet the highest standards of EMT and Paramedic Education. Once you have successfully completed this program you will be prepared to sit for the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification exams, which leads to both national and state certification as an EMT and/or paramedic.
The goal of the Eastern Arizona College EMS Program is “to prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession (CoAEMSP, 2024).”
