Work Study Programs

Eastern Arizona College currently administers the following student employment programs:
    • Federal Work Study 
    • Institutional Work Study 

Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a federally funded employment program available to students who have displayed financial need as calculated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA®.

Institutional Work-Study (IWS) is and institutionally funded employment program available to enrolled students who are looking to offset the costs of their education.


These positions are treated as any other job, but have some slight differences:
  • Supervisors schedule work hours around your class schedule
  • We offer on-campus and community off-campus positions
  • Most positions do not require specific skills; this is a great opportunity to learn new abilities
  • Work study job experience provides usable job knowledge and creates beneficial work habits
  • Each position earns Arizona’s minimum hourly wage

Work Study Process

      1.  Make sure your current FAFSA application is completed, and all required documents have been submitted
      2.  Enroll in eligible courses for the current/upcoming semester
      3.  Contact the Work Study Coordinator or Financial Aid Office and Veteran Services to verify your eligibility status
      4.  View the Available Positions
      5.  Apply directly with the listed supervisor by turning in the work-study application
      6.  If interviewed and hired, return a copy of your application to the Work Study Coordinator
      7.  Once you receive your award email, follow instructions on completing a payroll/employment packet with the Human Resources Department
      8.  All documents must be completed prior to beginning work

 


Additional Information

  • Work Study Positions begin and end with each semester.  For academic year dates please refer to the EAC Academic Calendar
  • Arrange your work schedule directly with your hiring supervisor so that your schedule does not conflict with your classes
  • Generally, work-study employees work an average of 6 to 10 hours each week and earn Arizona’s current minimum wage   
  • Students are responsible to enter their time worked on their individual employee time portal for approval
  • Please reach out to your supervisor for a list of pay dates, students are paid bi-weekly through direct deposit

If you are unable to view your desired content, try using a different (or private) web browser.  Your work study email example: ws.workstudy@eac.edu and your student email are both Microsoft accounts.  Issues may occur because your preferred browser method remembers and saves the data from each of your accounts which disrupts two step authentications.  If using two separate browsers creates an issue, you may also you create multiple profiles in Microsoft Edge and sign in with different accounts: Sign in and create multiple profiles in Microsoft Edge

 


Federal Work Study (FWS) Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for FWS you must:

    • Have a high school diploma, its recognized equivalent (GED) or completed home schooling
    • Have completed a current year FAFSA® application and submitted to EAC as the host school
    • Have unmet financial need based on your SAI (Student Aid Index)
    • Have a declared major or certificate
    • Be enrolled in 6 or more eligible credit hours throughout each semester
    • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress

Institutional Work Study (IWS) Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for IWS you must:

    • Have a high school diploma, its recognized equivalent (GED) or completed home schooling
    • Have completed a current year FAFSA® application and submitted to EAC as the host school
    • Have a declared major or certificate
    • Be enrolled in 6 or more credit hours throughout the semester
