EAC presents the spring musical, Anastasia

Eastern Arizona College’s Fine Arts Division is proud to bring the spring musical, Anastasia, to the Fine Arts Auditorium stage. This breathtaking production will transport audiences from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the dazzling streets of 1920s Paris, following the journey of a young woman seeking to unlock the secrets of her past.

Jeff Skiba, EAC theater director and director of Anastasia, shared his excitement for the production: “Anastasia is such a great musical. It’s a wonderful journey through time that shows the connections we have with our past. Not only that, but it has amazing music, incredible characters, and a great set. Something new that we haven’t done a lot is projections, which is amazing. We also have some great special effects.”

About the Show: Inspired by the beloved film, Anastasia tells the story of Anya, a courageous young woman pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer as she enlists the help of a charismatic con man and a former aristocrat to uncover her true identity. Featuring a compelling book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty, and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, this dazzling production captures the romance, adventure, and intrigue of a legendary tale.

Assistant Director Merrill Larson added, “I’m really excited for people to come and see it because we have a lot of talent in the show, and we’ve worked hard. Anastasia is filled with a lot of incredible music, some you’ve heard in the movie, some songs are new to the musical, so regardless of what you know about this musical, come and watch it—it’s good.”

Spur Udall, Assistant Stage Manager and Costume Maker, emphasized the effort put into the production: “This show has so many costume changes, not just the main actors but the ensemble as well, so we are working very hard to make sure we get all those costume changes done neatly and smoothly. My job as an ASM is to make sure that set pieces are put out, help actors with costume changes, take line notes, and overall help to put on a great show. Anastasia is so amazing—you should come and see it!”

Parental Guidance Rating: PG
Anastasia contains themes related to the Russian Revolution, including depictions of violence and gunshot effects, which may be unsettling for young children.

Acknowledgment of Filming: Eastern Arizona College’s Marketing Department will be capturing photos, video, and audio recordings of this event for promotional use, including audience footage. By attending, patrons grant permission for their likeness to be used in future advertising.
