Eastern Arizona College graduates have many transfer options after completion of an associate degree. If you want to transfer to a four-year degree program at a major university, we are here to help on your journey.
We are partnered with many Arizona universities. Out-of-state universities have different policies regarding the transfer of general education credit for your major or minor requirements. You should carefully consult the catalog of the university to which you wish to transfer.
Contact a transfer advisor for the university you plan to attend and consult the catalog and/or curriculum transfer guide for that institution.

EA offers three types of associate degrees that transfer to Arizona’s public universities, such as Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University (NAU), and the University of Arizona (U of A).
The three types of degrees are:
These associate degrees are 64 credits each and are composed of four basic “blocks”:
Completion of the AGEC guarantees your admission to the state universities if you are a resident student. Non-residents must have a grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Completion of the AGEC also means that you will have met the lower-division general education requirements at any of the universities for the majors that articulate with that AGEC.
All three state universities may accept the Eastern Arizona College Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree toward certain Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degrees.
If you complete the associate degrees at EA, you will be guaranteed to enter the university with junior status.

EA has specific associate degrees with Grand Canyon University (GCU). Students who complete a transfer-oriented associate degree (Associate of Arts or Associate of Science) may fulfill GCU’s General Education requirements. Students without a transfer-oriented degree (Associate of Applied Science) must fulfill the General Education requirements and have a course-by-course evaluation completed.
Additional programmatic admission requirements and transfer policy information can be found in GCU’s Policy Handbook. A course equivalency guide provides an assessment of the courses between EA and GCU. This guide will be used in evaluating official transcripts. These courses fulfill the competency requirements; however, the courses may not fulfill the credit requirements. To earn an undergraduate degree at GCU, students must complete a minimum of 120 semester credit hours.
Out-of-state universities have different policies regarding the transfer of general education credit toward your major or minor requirements. Consult the catalog of the university you want to transfer to.
Eastern Arizona College maintains strong transfer partnerships with Brigham Young University (BYU) campuses in Utah, Hawaii, and Idaho, creating pathways for students to continue their education. By completing an associate degree at EA, students fulfill most general education (GE) requirements and strengthen their admissions application. These agreements support a smooth transition while helping students stay on track toward their academic and career goals.

Students increase the probability of their admission to Brigham Young University by earning one of the following associate degree types from EA:
If a student is admitted to BYU with the above associate degree type from EA, they will have completed all BYU University Core GE requirements, with the exception of American Heritage, Advanced Writing, and the Advanced Mathematics or Foreign Language requirements. EA offers mathematics and foreign language courses you can take to satisfy BYU’s advanced Mathematics or Foreign Language requirement.
You should consult the BYU/EA Articulation Agreement in selecting these courses. A copy of the Agreement is available through the Counseling Department. The EA to BYU transfer partnership does not cover the transfer and applicability of major courses. Consult with the prospective major department at BYU for recommendations on EA courses that can be taken toward your intended major.

Students who complete the following associate degree type from EA will have met the BYU-Hawaii GE requirements with the exception of the Interdisciplinary Studies course:
Additional aspects of the transfer agreement are as follows:

Students who earn the following associate degree type from EA will be considered as having completed the BYU-Idaho (BYU-I) GE requirements:
For students who have not earned an associate degree, the EA courses listed in the General Education Articulation Agreement, available through the Counseling Department, apply toward the GE requirements at BYU-I.
If a student transfers from EA to BYU-I, their credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis according to the General Education Transfer Agreement. The general education requirements for students transferring to BYU-I will be those in effect at the time of their initial enrollment.
Eastern Arizona College provides transfer pathways to New Mexico State University and Western New Mexico University. By completing an associate degree at EA, students can fulfill general education requirements and may qualify for reduced tuition opportunities as Arizona residents, making the transition both seamless and affordable.

Students who have earned the following associate degree type from EA may be considered as having completed the New Mexico State University GE requirements:
Additionally, Arizona residents may qualify for in-state tuition rates from New Mexico State University.

Arizona residents may be eligible for a tuition waiver for out-of-state students at Western New Mexico University (WNMU).
Students who earn the following associate degree type from EA can fulfill WNMU’s GE requirements:
However, this is only possible if the student includes in their degree program the EA courses specifically listed in the articulation agreement as meeting WMNU general education requirements in the Oral Communication, History, Computer, and Physical and Mental Well Being areas.
Copies of the articulation agreement are available through the Counseling Department.
WGU is the only non-profit, online, competency-based education (CBE) university in the country. Students transferring from EA into one of WGU’s colleges can expect a comprehensive transfer policy. Students with an Associate of Arts (A.A.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) degree usually qualify for an Upper-Division standing at WGU. Depending on your degree program, you may qualify for additional requirement waivers. If you have completed some college coursework but have not earned a degree, WGU will conduct a transcript evaluation. Your experience may waive some of your requirements.
WGU offers several scholarships including a Community College Partners Scholarship ($2,500) and Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship ($2,500).
