Commencement Instructions

Being able to walk at Commencement is a proud moment for Eastern Arizona College students, their family and friends, as well as for the College’s faculty and staff. To ensure that the ceremony goes smoothly and is enjoyable for all, this page provides instruction for what to expect before, during, and after the commencement ceremony.

Prior to Commencement

  • Gowns: Place your gown on a hanger to remove wrinkles. Iron or steam if needed.
  • Caps: Caps are worn so the board is horizontal, pulled down well over the forehead. The tassel is always worn draped over the left front quarter of the cap. Please feel free to decorate your cap and keep in mind that the EAC Commencement Ceremony is a dignified ceremony.
  • Shoe selection: Due to the installation of new turf at John Mickelson Stadium, we ask all graduates, faculty, staff, and guests to be mindful of their footwear. Heels narrower than 1″ will not be allowed for the ceremony as they may damage the turf – please select footwear accordingly. Anyone who arrives in non-compliant footwear will be asked to remove their shoes before stepping onto the field. Alternative footwear will be available if needed.

Thank you for your cooperation.
