EAC presents A Yellow Boat

Eastern Arizona College is proud to present The Yellow Boat October 11-14, at 7:00 p.m. in the SC-3 Theater. This dramatization is based on the true story of David and Sonja Saar’s son, Benjamin, who was born with congenital hemophilia and died in 1987 at the age of 8 of AIDS-related complications. The story of The Yellow Boat is a glorious affirmation of a child’s life and the strength and courage of all children. A uniquely gifted visual artist, Benjamin’s buoyant imagination transformed his physical and emotional pain into a blaze of colors and shapes in his fanciful drawings and paintings. Benjamin’s remarkable voyage continues to touch audiences around the world.

“The Yellow Boat is a beautiful, surrealistic, expressionist story of a father’s love for his son,” said Jeff Skiba, EAC’s new Associate Professor of theater, “Professor Scott Dahl with the assistance of students, has transformed the black box stage into a life-size painting that accents the youthful celebration of Benjamin’s story. Our student director Madeline Cockrell, and the talented cast have worked tirelessly to bring this play to life.”

This play is a tragedy/drama and is not recommended for children under the age of 8.

Admission is $5 per person and tickets are available at www.eac.edu.
