Eastern Arizona College is an Arizona Department of Health Services, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma training center. Our accredited and nationally approved programs, which include associate degrees and certificates, offer courses that meet or exceed the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards. Our courses prepare students to sit for the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) certification exams, leading to both national and state certification as an EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic. Our EMS Certification programs are limited to 24 students per cohort and require prior admission.
This entry level course teaches students to assess patients, provide life-saving interventions, and manage both medical and trauma emergencies. Instruction combines classroom learning with hands-on skills and simulations to build confidence in emergency care. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the National Registry EMT exam for certification at the state and national level.
The goal of the EAC Advanced EMT Program is “to prepare Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession (CoAEMSP, 2024).” Building on EMT skills, this course introduces advanced patient assessment, airway management, IV therapy, and medication administration. Students gain experience through classroom instruction, skills labs, and clinical practice. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the National Registry AEMT exam for certification at the state and national level. Current EMT certification is required for acceptance into the program.
The goal of the EAC Paramedic Program is “to prepare Paramedics who are competent in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains to enter the profession (CoAEMSP, 2024).” The program trains students to deliver the highest level of prehospital care, including advanced airway management, pharmacology, cardiology, and critical patient interventions. Coursework is integrated with clinical rotations and field internships to ensure real-world competency. The program has been awarded continuing accreditation which is based on a rigorous evaluation process that ensures that numerous standards of excellence in EMS education are met. Upon completion, students are eligible to take the National Registry Paramedic exam for certification at the state and national level. Current EMT or AEMT certification is required to apply.
