Scholarship Auditions

Scholarship Audition Dates: February 24 and March 23, 2024

Instructions:

  • Must sign up for an audition time no later than the 24 hours before the audition date.

In-Person Scholarship Audition Process:

  • Percussion and Winds: Please email Professor DeSpain for audition process and information: geoff.despain@eac.edu
  • Piano:
    1. Complete the online audition form
    2. Sign up for an audition time
    3. Prepare two contrasting song selections from different musical eras. Some examples would be: two/three part invention, sonatas, nocturnes, etudes, preludes, etc. Memorization is preferred but not required.
    4. We encourage inventive and creative programming. If your proposed program differs from our recommendations, please check in advance when scheduling your audition. Through the audition process, we hope to make an accurate assessment of each candidate’s potential in a relatively short amount of time. Please choose repertoire that will help us make that assessment.
    5. Arrive to Room 105 (piano faculty office) at least five minutes prior to your audition time. Please wait outside the room until your name is called.

  • Voice:
    1. Complete the online audition form
    2. Sign up for an audition time
    3. Prepare two contrasting song selections of serious music. Choose an art song, lieder, chanson, folk song, or hymn, please no popular songs. You must provide your own accompanist.
    4. Arrive to the Choir Room (FA-111) ready to sing at least five minutes prior to your audition time. Please wait outside the room until your name is called.
    5. In addition to the prepared songs, the director will check your range, have you sight-read a short line of music (on par with the Arizona All-State audition), and run a tonal memory exercise.

Note: If you are unable to attend auditions in person and would like to send in a video audition, please contact the coordinator for your instrument area.
