Eastern Arizona College’s Grants Department identifies and administers a variety of funding opportunities to support the College’s programs and mission. These grantshelp advance academic success, student support, workforce development, and community initiatives.

Long-Term Grants

Eastern Arizona College has received several long-term grants:

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs

Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is a six-year grant that follows a cohort from 7th grade through high school to graduation. Eastern Arizona College was awarded its third consecutive grant in 2018. $6.7 million has been awarded with the express purpose of preparing students in low-income areas for post-secondary education.

Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence

EA has partnered with the University of Arizona and the Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence (IC CAE Scholar) to ensure that highly- qualified graduates have a natural pathway to a job in the intelligence community. This consortium is designed to prepare students for possible careers in national security and intelligence through advanced study of national security, intelligence, foreign area studies, language proficiency, geographical expertise, and related competencies. It also serves as a mentoring and networking program for EA students.

Nurse Education Investment Pilot Program

The Nurse Education Investment Pilot Program is a state-funded program to address Arizona’s nurse shortage. $1.3 million has been awarded to EA for a three-year period to increase the number of qualified nursing graduates. Supported initiatives to expand our Nursing Program include hiring new staff, bolstering mentorship, purchasing capital equipment, and providing other support services.

Open Education Resources

EA participates in a consortium of eight community colleges, Open Text Rural Arizona, that aims to expand Open Education Resources (OER) offerings. OER aims to lower costs for students and expand access to education by empowering faculty to create and use curricula sourced from the Creative Commons. Eastern Arizona College’s OER program has been awarded $176,000 for 2021-2024.

Strengthening Institutions Program

The Strengthening Institutions Program is a $2.9 million grant awarded to EA by the United States Department of Education in 2018. Its purpose is to assist underserved populations in improving academically.

Short-Term Grants

Eastern Arizona College has received several smaller short-term grants:

  • MTV Campus Vote: EA was awarded $5,300 by the Fair Elections Center Campus Vote Project to host an early voting event.
  • United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties:The United Way awarded around $33,000 for 2022-2023 to establish the Monster Exchange pantry, providing students access to free food, toiletries, clothes, and school supplies.
