EAC adds new twists and times for some old favorites

THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College aerobics and Pilates instructor, Brooke Bingham, is offering some great new times and twists in her aerobics and Pilates classes this semester starting with a new time for students to choose from—8:30-9:20 a.m. “We’ve added this class for students who just can’t fathom waking up for a 6 a.m. class,” says Bingham, who has heard from her younger students that 6 a.m. is, “just too early!”

“It’s also for stay at home Moms and Dads who are busy getting kids ready for school at that early hour,” Bingham says. “By 8:30, things have calmed down enough to actually enjoy an hour of good cardio to get their day really rolling.”

Now, students can choose the 6-6:50 a.m. aerobics class (HPE101AJ, section #0605) or the 8:30-9:20 a.m. aerobics class (HPE101AJ, section #1417) and get a great workout at the time that works for them. Additionally, Bingham has updated these classes to reflect current trends in cardio-aerobics training to include elements of aerobic dance and kickboxing to improve agility, strength, and endurance.

Bingham has also made a few changes to her Pilates class, (HPE101AP, section #0601 Pilates for Fun and Fitness), by breaking it into a two-nights-a-week course and moving it to the College’s main campus. Pilates will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-6:50 p.m. in the College’s Guitteau Gymnasium.

“I’ve taken Pilates and added my own twist to it,” Bingham says. “There’s more of a conditioning emphasis in my class which really enhances the end result of core strengthening and toning.”

She wants potential students to know that all skill levels can succeed in her classes. There are various levels and positions that each student can start out at and work up to. “The main thing is to get moving. Get going. Get started! And if you already have, the main thing is to keep on going!”
