The Symphony Orchestra, directed by Professor Franklin Alvarez, presents a full-length
concert each semester presenting a wide variety of symphonic literature of all genres.
One of strengths of the program is that is open to the all musicians—music majors,
non-majors, graduate students, as well as our local community. In the Fall semester,
the orchestra collaborates to accompany the annual production of Handel’s Messiah,
as well as the Festival of Carols during the holidays.

Students in the Chamber Orchestra can expect to play a mix of styles from the classical
genres to jazz and pop styles. In addition, many of our string players are also active
chamber music participants, receiving weekly coaching and performance opportunities.
Students who have previously studied violin, viola, cello, or bass are also welcome
to register for private lessons with the string faculty. This ensemble is directed
by Professor Franklin Alvarez.

spanning the choral standards of the Renaissance and Baroque eras to contemporary
works. Members of this ensemble participate in semester choral concerts as well as
the annual production of Festival of Carols and Handel's Messiah. Additonally, they represent the college during the annual music department tour
during the spring semester. This ensemble is directed by Dr. Gideon Burrows.

choral concerts as well as the vocal jazz concert which takes place in the spring
semester. Additonally, they represent the college during the annual music department tour during
the spring semester. Participation in this ensemble does no fufill large ensemble
credit for students majoring or minoring in music. This ensemble is directed by Rick
Lunt.

FA- 111 (Choir Room)
This ensemble is open to all interested singers (SATB) who desire to sing in a community
setting. Choristers will perform repertoire from a wide range of styles spanning the
choral standards all areas and include many popular, folk, spiritual and hymn settings. Members
of this ensemble participate in their own choral concert at the end of each semester, and
form the central group of singers for mini-masterworks concerts. This is a half-credit course
($45.00/sem.) and does not count toward completion of a degree. This ensemble is directed by
Professor Chase Moore (Fall Semester) and Dr. Gideon Burrows (Spring Semester).
