Communication Studies

Communication Studies Program at EAC

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are high on the list of attributes employers look for in hiring new graduates. Students majoring in communication studies offer these skills to the workplace, opening doors to a wide variety of employment opportunities. Most career paths in communication require a bachelor’s degree and Eastern Arizona is a smart place to start your academic path. Our Associate of Arts in Communication Arts meets the requirements for the first two years of a four-year bachelor’s program at Arizona’s public, and many other, universities. You can transfer with junior status after building a strong academic foundation studying topics ranging from communication theory to the latest technological advances. You’ll learn in small, stimulating classes taught by quality faculty and offered at an extremely affordable tuition cost. You are encouraged to work closely with an academic adviser and consult the official transfer guide to ensure you are on the correct course to maximize course transferability.

EAC’s Communication Honor Society

Sigma Chi Eta is the official community college honor society of the National Communication Association, an organization created for scholars and professionals in the field of communication. EAC’s Alpha Nu chapter of the Sigma Chi Eta honor society invites communication studies majors who achieve a 3.5 overall GPA after the completion of nine credit hours in communication to become members of this prestigious society. Once inducted, a student is a member for life and is expected to always strive for excellence. In addition to recognizing, fostering, and rewarding outstanding scholastic achievement, Sigma Chi Eta promotes and encourages professional development among communication majors throughout their professional careers.
