THATCHER, AZ—Landscaping and interior crews are busy with final preparations as Eastern Arizona College’s new Nursing Education Center readies for the Fall 2010 semester. College officials broke ground on the building, which sits on the southeast corner of the College’s Middle Campus, in June of 2009.
The 15,651 square-foot facility will consolidate the College’s Nursing Program under one roof with a critical care clinical simulation room, a state-of-the-art nursing skills lab with all the features of an acute care hospital, two media-enriched classrooms, a computer lab with enhanced nursing training software, faculty offices, and study space for the over 120 enrolled nursing students on the Thatcher Campus.
The building, which was completed in just over a year, came in on-time and under budget with a savings of more than $1.5 million over the initial projected cost.
A dedication and tours of the new Nursing Education Center will soon be announced for mid-August just prior to the beginning of the fall semester, which begins on August 23.
