THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Greenlee County Lecture Series continues with “Ancient Tools, Toys, and Medicine,” a free slideshow and lecture to be presented on Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 6 p.m. at the Morenci Community Library in Morenci.

The hour-long, family-friendly program will focus on how the Southwest Native Americans traditionally used natural materials, especially plant materials, to create medicines, toys, and other implements. Harry Swanson, dean of EAC’s Discovery Park Campus, says, “Southwest Native Americans, both past and present, have a surprising array of natural medications, ritual instruments, toys for teaching children, and tools for accomplishing everyday tasks. Please join us for this talk on archaeology and pharmacopeia!”
