THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park Campus lecture series will continue with a free slideshow and lecture entitled “Alaska: All That Glitters…,” to be presented on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at 6:30 p.m. in the Jupiter Room of Discovery Park Campus.
The free, hour-long program will focus on the world of Alaskan gold mining and will be presented by Harry Swanson, dean of EAC’s Discovery Park Campus. Swanson was a gold miner in the Alaskan interior for several years, and he will be sharing some of his personal experiences with the audience.
“The stories of my unusual adventures will give the presentation a special color,” says Swanson.
Community members of all ages are invited to attend this event. “Come and enjoy a relaxing evening in virtual Alaska, where you can catch ‘gold fever’ but not suffer its miseries,” invites Swanson.
“Following the lecture, join us in some quality sky gazing facilitated by docents with amazing talents and credentials.”
