English and Languages - Welcome

A World of Possibilities

We’re excited to introduce you to our community as we analyze and expand the boundaries of the English language, and explore other languages. At EAC, our classes are small, our curricula offer many choices, and our AA degrees transfer smoothly to Arizona’s universities and other colleges.

Communication is vital as the world becomes our neighborhood, our classroom, our office, our time machine and our front porch. We hope that you’ll join us in discovering this world.

- Pete Chidester, PhD, Communicative Arts Division Chair

English and Languages - Experience

A Few Words from Our Students

“I feel enlightened every time I leave class. I feel that I am stretching myself to learn and keep up with the teacher, whose vocabulary alone challenges my comprehension and keeps me on my toes.”

“She was an extremely hard teacher but in a good way. I thoroughly enjoyed this class. She made me think about English and literature in a new perspective.”

“The professor is fun and exciting and keeps the class entertained in a way that helps the students stay focused and have fun learning. Plus, he explains things really well and makes it really easy for the students to learn.”

“[Instructor] Pete [Chidester] is a funny guy and he takes the tension out of the class. He is an enthusiastic teacher that talks about life outside of class. He really knows what he is talking about and is a smart guy.”

English and Languages - Careers

Write Your Next Chapter

English majors spend years honing their communication and analytical skills — and those skills are in demand in just about every job. That means career options are wide open for English majors. Traditional paths include journalism, public relations, marketing and teaching. Online publications are spurring the demand for writers and editors with Web experience.

With an education in language study, you can enter a career in business, education, international relations, translation, social work, transportation, journalism and many other areas. Many language majors go on to professional schools, such as law, medicine, dentistry or business.
