Thatcher, AZ—As Eastern Arizona College prepares for its 125th anniversary this year, there are a number of exciting activities in store for the weekend of September 13-15, 2013. We invite you to come celebrate 125 years since the college’s founding, showing your support for Eastern Arizona College this September.
The Fine Arts Program here at EAC has seen great talent throughout the years. From its beginning, music courses were part of the curriculum. In 1972, Eastern Arizona College dedicated a new Fine Arts Auditorium that has become a great venue for our community. The new Fine Arts Auditorium brought many productions to the Gila Valley and has become a common place for cultural programs in the area. Our Fine Arts Auditorium would not be the same without our talented fine arts program that goes along with it, offering excellent entertainment that you can have a chance to see at this year’s 125th celebration.
At Eastern Arizona College, the fine arts program includes a variety of different departments including Art, Graphic Design, Music, and Theatre and Cinematic Arts. The Music Department includes many performing arts groups, such as Company, The Guyz, Fourte, Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Pep and Marching band, Orchestra, and many more, most of which will be performing at the 125th anniversary celebration.
September 13, 2013, will kick off the first major event of the 125th anniversary celebration. Among some of the attending guests will be state and local representatives, members of the College administration, and the many friends and alumni of the College. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. in the Gerald L. Hoopes Jr. Activities Center. There will also be a program throughout the course of the dinner with performances by EAC’s band, choir, and orchestra, followed by an anniversary dance in the Activities Center beginning at 8:30 pm. Come out and enjoy the entertainment, and an overall night of fun!
Community members planning to take part in the 125th anniversary celebration are reminded that several of the events will require pre-registration, while others will require admission fees, etc. Please call the EAC Foundation at (928)-428-8295, or toll-free at (800)-678-3808, extension 8295 for more information or to register.
Registration forms were also included in the last mailing of the Gila Gram complete with a list of merchandise sporting our very own Gila Hank that are available for purchase.
