Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College will offer several yoga and chi gong classes this summer beginning with EAC’s first summer session and picking up again for EAC’s second summer session. Summer I classes begin May 28, 2013, and will run through June 28, 2013, while Summer II classes begin July 1, 2013, and will run through August 2, 2013.

All of the summer yoga and chi gong classes will meet for one hour, Monday through Friday, in AP274. Summer I will include Beginning Hatha Yoga I and II (section #6074 and 6075), which will meet from 8-9 a.m., and will be taught by Karen Beeley. Also being offered for Summer I is Advanced Hatha Yoga I and II (section #6076 and 6077), which will meet from 9-10 a.m., and will be taught by Amber Morton.

Summer II will include Beginning Hatha Yoga I and II and Advanced Hatha Yoga I (section #7037, #7035, and #7036). Each of these sections has an emphasis on ball fitness and will meet from 8-9 a.m., with instructor Alissa Hill.

Also being offered for Summer II is Beginning Hatha Yoga I and II (section #7037 and 7038) and Advanced Hatha Yoga I (section #7039), which will meet from 9-9:59 a.m., and will also be taught by Hill.

Another class that will be offered in Summer II is Beginning Chi Gong I (section #7040), which will meet from 10-10:59 a.m., and will also be taught by Hill.

Chi gong traces its ancient origins through martial arts from China and India and was popularized by the Shaolin monks. “Chi means life force or life energy and gong means work or benefits acquired through practice,” says Hill. “It is not a physically demanding class and can be adapted easily to any fitness level, including those with disabilities. Yoga and chi gong are physical, mental, and spiritual disciplines.”

To register for these, or any other EAC class, visit www.eac.edu; call the Records and Registration Office at 428-8270; or stop by in person at 615 N. Stadium Avenue, in Thatcher, during regular business hours.
