Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Communicative Arts Department is offering a new, three-credit, Conversational American Sign Language course (ASL011, section #6070) this summer, that will begin on Tuesday, May 28, and meet Mondays through Thursdays through June 28, from 10-11:30 a.m., in the Academic Programs Building, Room #111.

In this developmental class, vocabulary, structure, grammar, dialogue, and narrative are emphasized. “The students will begin to learn and practice signing skills and their application within the deaf community,” says Monica Clarine, instructor for the class. “This course is great for personal enrichment and activity.”

Clarine has been teaching ASL at EAC since 2006 and this is the first time she is offering ASL during a summer session. “I am looking forward to adding Conversational ASL to the first summer session at EAC this year. I know it will be fun and rewarding for those who enroll,” says Clarine.
