Thatcher, AZ—The Graham County Community College District Governing Board met this month at Eastern Arizona College. During this regular monthly meeting, the board’s newest member, Tina C. McMaster, was sworn in.

McMaster is a math educator at Safford High School and a resident of Thatcher, Arizona. She is the mother of five former, current, and future Eastern Arizona College students.

She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Utah with a degree in Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in Applied Mathematics.

Following graduation, she developed offshore oil and gas reserves in the Gulf of Mexico as a senior reservoir engineer for Exxon Company USA. Raising a family turned her interests from developing domestic reserves to developing the minds of young people. After tutoring math and science for over fifteen years, she more recently accepted a position teaching math in the public school system.

“I have a passion for higher education and I cherish the access to affordable, quality education that Eastern Arizona College provides for the Gila Valley and surrounding communities,” said McMaster. “EAC’s focus on teaching and personal attention, along with smaller class sizes, are in direct contrast to my personal experiences as a former student of a large state university,” she said. “I have seen first-hand the power that EAC has in changing lives of students returning to school to improve job prospects and for students who have gone on to work in high-growth industries such as healthcare or technical fields, and I am committed to maintaining that access for all Graham County residents.”
