EAC to offer Retail Management online this summer

By Lexi Lee

Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Business Department is offering an online Retail Management course this summer. The course, section # 7022, is one of the core course requirements for the Retail Management certificate offered by EAC. It will run from May 29 through August 3, 2012, and can be completed at the student’s own pace.

This course is designed for store employees and supervisors interested in furthering their career in retail management.

“Retail and small business play a vital role in our local economy. This course is designed to stimulate interest in retailing careers in both the retailers, and the firms providing products and services to retailers,” explains instructor Greg Watson.

“Fifteen years ago the concern was that the consumer would abandon the traditional retailer and shop exclusively online,” says Watson. “Now it is understood that the Internet is not replacing the traditional retail industry, but rather enhancing the activities of retailers in how they interact with their customers.”

Topics such as customer buying behavior, retail marketing strategies, financial analysis, merchandising, purchasing, and pricing strategies are also discussed in this course. Core concepts of store management, store layout, and customer service remain the foundation of instruction.

Students wishing to enroll in Retail Management may call EAC’s Records and Registration Office at 428-8270, or may register online at www.eac.edu. Regular tuition fees apply for this course.
