Thatcher, AZ—The Associated Students of Eastern Arizona College (ASEAC), in conjunction with the Lady Gila Monsters Women’s Basketball team and the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, has declared the week of February 13-18, 2012, “Pink Week,” in an effort to raise awareness and join the fight against breast cancer.
The week’s events will kick off with an EAC baseball taking on El Paso Community College Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at noon, on the EAC baseball fields. The women’s basketball team and ASEAC will be there raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund by selling t-shirts, water bottles, pink balloons, and various treats.
Wednesday, February 15, 2012, “Pink Week” will continue with EAC versus Mesa Community College basketball games. The Lady Monsters game will start at 5:30 p.m., and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m. at Guitteau Gymnasium. ASEAC will have drawings and prizes, treats, t-shirts, and half-time activities.
Next up, EAC softball will host Yavapai College on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at noon. Once again, the women’s basketball team and ASEAC will be there raising money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund by selling t-shirts, water bottles, pink balloons, and various treats.
The Pink Week main event, the 4Kay Run, Walk & Roll, will be held Saturday, February 18, 2012, in Guitteau Gymnasium at 8 a.m. Check in time will be 7:45 a.m. To participate in the 4Kay Run, Walk & Roll, a registration fee of $10 is required. Every paid participant will be entered into drawings for over 50 prizes, and t-shirts will be for sale. Following the run, there will be a balloon launch for all honorees.
“Play 4Kay is an opportunity for coaches to raise breast cancer awareness and funds for research on the court, across campus, in communities, and beyond,” says EAC’s Student Activities Facilitator, Patti Wren. “This is a great organization, and we are excited to be a part of it. Join us for ‘Pink Week’, and help us raise money to help the Kay Yow foundation reach their goal of $1 million for breast cancer research.”
