Tuition levels at EAC still a bargain

By Todd Haynie

Thatcher, AZ—Last year, Eastern Arizona College’s District Governing Board unanimously voted to maintain the College’s 2009-2010 tuition for 2010-11 academic year as well. For the two years, in-state tuition rates for full-time students (12 or more credits) have been at a flat rate of $760. Part-time students enrolling in two to six credits currently pay a flat rate of only $130.

According to a recent article in The Chronicle of Higher Education, a weekly newspaper reporting on issues about colleges and universities, Eastern Arizona College stood out as one of the few institutions in the state that did not raise tuition rates for the 2010-11 academic year. In contrast, Arizona’s three state universities raised their tuition rates between 14.8% and 28.4%.

A student enrolling at Eastern for the first two years of their education can save almost $9,000 in tuition alone over the cost of those same two years at one of the universities.

Students wishing to take advantage of EAC’s low tuition can now enroll in the upcoming Spring 2011 semester by visiting Gila Hank Online at www.eac.edu or by calling the Records and Registration Office at (928) 428-8270. Spring 2011 courses begin on Wednesday, January 12, 2011.
