THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park Campus is now offering GED preparation classes starting on January 13, 2010, at 4 p.m. in the Jupiter Room of Discovery Park Campus.

These nine week, open-entry, open-exit classes are designed to equip students with the knowledge to pass the GED examination. For state and county residents, a limited number of scholarships are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

“Are you 18 years old or older without your high school diploma? Have you been wishing you could complete your high school education by completion of the GED examination? Now is your chance,” says Harry Swanson, dean of Discovery Park Campus. “High school graduates earn, on average, more than $9,000 per year than those who do not finish. Taking the GED is a great way to improve your math, science, writing, and social science skills, and get the education you need.”

“Now is the perfect time to get your GED. Don't put it off another minute!” continues Swanson. “Our instructors are effective, empathetic, and very motivating. Our program is said to be among the top 5% in the nation, and last semester we helped seven students get their GED. You could be next!”

In order to accurately place students in the classes they need most, a free placement assessment is required. This series of tests may take up to a couple of hours. Assessments are administered Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on a walk-in basis, or by appointment. For more information, or to make an appointment, contact Discovery Park Campus at (928) 428-6260.
