Water and Watersheds to be taught at EAC in Spring 2010 semester

By Jeanné Schaser

THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College is partnering with the County Cooperative Extension to offer Water and Watersheds (AGR240, section #5799) as a class for the Spring 2010 semester. The class will be held on Wednesdays from 9 to 11:50 a.m. at the EAC Discovery Park campus, with several field trips held on Saturdays.

“Students concerned about erosion, flooding, water contaminants, and invasive weeds that want to learn how to plan, fund, and implement projects will greatly benefit from this class,” says Bill Brandau, instructor for the course. “They will gain a greater understanding of our watershed, including the climate, hydrology, geology, soils, water quality, fish, and wildlife, as well as learn how to utilize tools such as remote sensing, GPS and GIS.”
