EAC Theatre to perform Brecht on Brecht
By Jeanné Schaser
THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Theatre Department is performing Brecht on Brecht November 11-13, at 7:30 p.m., with a special Saturday matinee at 2 p.m. on November 14. All will perform in the EAC Fine Arts Auditorium under the direction of EAC Theatre instructor Dan Robbins.
“This collection of short scenes, poetry, music, dance, and slides make for a truly memorable night at the theatre,” says Robbins. “Brecht’s observations on theatre will make you laugh; his observations on life will make you think; and his observations about the Nazis and the Holocaust will make you cry. This is truly theatre at its finest!”
Robbins also says that this play deals with subject matter that some parents may find too mature for their younger children.
EAC’s adaptation of this classic comedic production is the college’s entry into this year’s Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF), a national theater education program that focuses on promoting quality in college theater productions. By entering this production, the EAC Theatre Department is sharing in the KCACTF goals as well as competing for a chance to perform at the national festival in the spring of 2010.
Admission price for Brecht on Brecht is $3 for children or $5 for adults. Full-time EAC students and faculty are admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling EAC’s Ticket Office at 428-8228.
