Microsoft Certified Application Specialist testing at EAC

By Jeanné Clark

THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Business and Computers Departments are pleased to be offering testing for the Microsoft Certified Application Specialist (MCAS) credential this year. These certifications cover the entire Microsoft Office 2007 suite, encompassing Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access, as well as the Windows Vista operating system.

“The MCAS credential is a globally recognized standard that validates skills in the use of the 2007 Microsoft Office system and Windows Vista,” says EAC computer instructor, Lydia Mata. “It is the successor to the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) and meets the demand for the most up-to-date skills on the latest technologies from Microsoft.”

Mata goes on to explain that candidates who successfully complete the program by passing the MCAS certification exam prove that they meet globally recognized performance standards and are able to work productively and efficiently.

“In addition,” she explains, “organizations that use the MCAS credential as a tool for quantitative skills measurement to facilitate identifying, hiring, promoting, and retaining qualified individuals can benefit from a streamlined recruitment process, greater individual productivity, and increased employee satisfaction.”

The exams are priced at $74.04 for the Microsoft Certified Application voucher with retake, or $61.70 for the voucher alone.
