EAC Theatre to perform Curse You, Jack Dalton!
By Jeanné Clark
THATCHER, AZ— Eastern Arizona College’s Theatre Department is presenting four performances of the one-act musical, Curse You, Jack Dalton!, on September 30, and October 1 and 2, at 7:30 p.m., and on October 3, at 2 p.m., in South Campus Classroom 3.
The musical, which is a spoof of the traditional Victorian-style comic musical melodrama, centers on the story of the young Jack Dalton, who possesses a very large fortune. Dalton has fallen in love with his housemaid, the simple and charming Bertha Blair. However, Dalton’s mother has other plans. She wants him to marry the seemingly wealthy Anna Alvarado, who in reality is penniless and scheming to get her hands on Dalton’s fortune.
Meanwhile, Egbert Van Horn, a man posing as a wealthy socialite, is also trying to get his hands on Dalton’s money. When Van Horn and Alvarado join forces, Dalton must fight to keep his money and get the girl he loves.
“I hope you enjoy this short piece,” says the play’s director and EAC theatre instructor, Bill Nidiffer. “This cast, formed of Natalie Young, Kyra Finlinson, Ahren Bonnell, Jessamine Conway, Isaac Wilson, Osiris Cuen, and Jed Cross, as well as the crew, headed up by freshman student and stage manager David Drescher, has worked hard in a very short time.”
Admission price for Curse You, Jack Dalton! is $3 per person. Full time EAC students, are admitted free of charge. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by calling EAC’s Ticket Office at 428-8228.
