THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s student Polynesian Club hosted a luau featuring a variety of dances from the islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, Samoa, and New Zealand that was attended by over 450 people last Saturday. The event, which also functioned as the swearing-in ceremony for the 2009-2010 officers of the Associated Students of Eastern Arizona College (EAC’s student government), featured authentic Polynesian food prepared by Jerry Hekekia, Gina Roebuck, and Kenny and Tina Rhodes.

“We served kalua pig, teriyaki beef, and all the trimmings,” says Polynesian Club advisor and EAC art faculty member Kenny Rhodes. “The students and their sponsors worked long and hard preparing for the event, and I’m delighted that there was such a great turn out.”
