THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Discovery Park Campus lecture series has been so successful in Graham County, that the coordinator of the series, EAC Dean Harry Swanson, is taking it on the road!

The new series, Morenci Slide Show and Lecture Series, will debut on Thursday, February 26, at the Morenci Community Library at 6 p.m. Admission to the family-friendly lecture is free and everyone is cordially invited to attend.

“This first lecture is called ‘More Than You Ever Wanted to Know about Cacti,’” says Swanson, but I have found that for many local residents, there is no such thing as too much information when it comes to these fascinating plants.”

Swanson will lecture on the taxonomy (the study of nomenclature), beauty, and uses of many of the cacti found in the American Southwest.

“Cacti have the most beautiful–almost iridescent–flowers, serve as homes for many wild critters, and are a source of nourishment for both man and beast,” explains Swanson. “We invite everyone to come to this first lecture in the new series as we discuss the many varieties of cacti, both large and very small, found here in Arizona.”

For more information about this lecture or EAC’s Discovery Park Campus, contact Swanson at (928) 428-6260.
