THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College speech communications instructor and resident storyteller, Lee Russell will be the guest speaker/storyteller at the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) lecture series event Thursday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. at the BLM Safford field office located at 711 14th Avenue. Admission to this event is free.

“Lee will tell us about the ‘Power Brothers Shootout’ with Sheriff Frank McBride, his deputies and Deputy U.S. Marshal Frank Haynes,” says EAC’s Discovery Park Campus Dean Harry Swanson. “In a departure from Russell’s usual storytelling style,” continued Swanson, “Lee will bring this true, local tale to life with something of a hybrid between tale and lecture that will delight any local history buff.”

If time allows, Russell will also share one or two southwestern folktales.” For more information about this free evening of educational entertainment, contact Swanson at 428-6260; or Daniel McGrew, cultural resources specialist/archaeologist at the BLM, at 348-4400.
