THATCHER, AZ—Students in Eastern Arizona College’s Short Story Writing class (ENG 234) recently participated in the School Kids Cowboy Poetry Program by judging poems written by 5th and 6th grade students from area schools.

These submissions were part of the Gila Valley Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering and were about this year’s theme: Gila Valley Western Heritage. This is the fourth year that students from an EAC English program are participating in this program.

“We’re delighted to be able to give something back to our community while at the same time encouraging the next generation of writers to be creative,” said Dr. Marilyn Wilton, the Short Story Writing instructor.
