Thatcher, AZ—For the fourth consecutive year, Eastern Arizona College’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has been awarded the annual Center of Excellence Award from the Arizona Friends of Small Business. Mike Fox, director of the EAC SBDC, received the award on August 6 at the Association of Small Business Development Centers’ national conference.

The award recognizes centers in the Arizona SBDC network that successfully achieve client service and economic impact goals. During 2007 EAC’s SBDC assisted clients in raising over $2.9 million for their businesses. These businesses created 103 new full-time jobs in the Gila Valley.

“Eastern Arizona College values the impact small business has on our community,” said Fox. “I am proud to work for an organization which considers the needs of the public as a top priority.”

The Small Business Development Center is sponsored jointly by Eastern Arizona College and the United States Small Business Administration. The center provides free counseling to existing businesses and individuals considering starting their own business. For more information call the SBDC at (928) 428-8590 or e-mail at julie.davis@eac.edu.
