EAC Intermediate Children’s Theatre auditions set

By Lori Dugan

THATCHER, AZ—Auditions for Eastern Arizona College’s Intermediate Children’s Theatre will be held on January 9 and 10 from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the Gherald L. Hoopes Jr. Activities Center–Lee Little Theatre.

All children between the ages of 11 and 14 are encouraged to audition for this year’s spring theatre offering of Bugsy Malone.

“This is a Broadway Junior version of the 1976 movie,” explains Penny Whetten, the play’s director. “This is a gangster movie where all the gangsters are children. Instead of real bullets they use ‘splurge guns’ that cover the victim in cream.”

The play is done in Broadway style with lots of singing and dancing. Children should come to auditions prepared to sing and will need to provide their own accompaniment or sing a cappella. A piano will be available.

Everyone who auditions will receive a part. There is a $15 fee for all students involved.

Whetten encourages all interested students to come and audition. Questions? Please call Whetten at 428-7922.
