THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Symphony and Chamber Orchestras will be offering Russian Treats for its fall concert this year. The concert, exclusively featuring the music of Russian composers, is scheduled for Saturday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the College’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Admission is $5 per person with children age 12 and under admitted free.

The program includes Prince Igor Overture by Alexander Borodin, Capriccio Espagnol by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Symphony No.1 in G minor by Vassili Kalinnikov.

EAC’s Director of Orchestras Franklin Alvarez will conduct the concert and says, “Russian music is considered to be among the best of national music. Before the 1830s, music in Russia was dominated by Italian and French music, mainly opera. Russian national composer schools acquired their individual shape rather late—in the mid 19th century. However, with maturity Russian music rushed into the world music arena.”

Tickets for Russian Treats are available at EAC’s Ticket Office at 428-8228 and will also be available at the door.
