Thatcher, AZ—For the third consecutive year, the Eastern Arizona College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has been awarded the annual Center of Excellence Award from the Arizona Friends of Small Business. Mike Fox, Director of the EAC SBDC, was notified of the award on September 20, 2007 at the Association of Small Business Development Centers’ national conference in Denver, Colo.

EAC’s SBDC is one of only four centers statewide to win the award three years in a row. The Center of Excellence Award recognizes centers in the Arizona SBDC network that successfully achieve client service and economic impact goals. During 2006 EAC’s SBDC assisted clients in raising over $1.1 million for their businesses. These businesses created 109 new full-time jobs in the Gila Valley.

“Eastern Arizona College values the impact small business has on our community,” said Center Director Mike Fox. “I am proud to work for an organization which considers the needs of the public as a top priority.”

The Eastern Arizona College Small Business Development Center is sponsored jointly by Eastern Arizona College and the United States Small Business Administration. The center provides free counseling to existing businesses and individuals considering starting their own business. For more information call the SBDC at (928) 428-8590 or e-mail at sbdc@eac.edu.
