THATCHER, AZ—The Eastern Arizona College Music Department is proud to present the Spring Symphonic Band Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 30, 2007.

The concert will include several middle school and elementary school bands from throughout the Gila Valley including students from the Thatcher, Safford, Pima, Solomon, and Willcox school districts. The youth bands will perform as a large combined band and will later be joining EAC’s Symphonic Band. Dr. Clay Redfield, EAC Director of Bands, will host and conduct the performance.

“The EAC Symphonic Band is energized by the opportunity to share our concert with the young band students from the area,” explained Redfield. “It will also give the community the opportunity to hear the progression of musical growth from the elementary school to the college level.”

Performance selections will include Second Suite in F for Military Band by Gustav Holst, Variations on a Korean Folk Song by John Barnes Chance, two commissioned works by Gerry Willis entitled Gila Valley Fanfare, and CIXI, and Selections from The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber featuring guest conductor Dr. Ronald Keith.

The free concert will be performed in the College’s Fine Arts Auditorium. Donations will be accepted and benefit the EAC band scholarships and programs. For more information, contact Dr. Redfield at 428-8465.
