27th Annual Spring Sing LIVE!

THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Choral Music Department proudly presents the Twenty-Seventh Annual Spring Sing entitled LIVE! The production is produced and directed by EAC choir director, Bruce Bishop. LIVE! will be performed on Thursday, April 26 and Friday, April 27 at 7:30 p.m. The musical production will also take the stage for a matinee performance on Saturday, April 28 at 2 p.m. All of the performances will take place in EAC’s Fine Arts Auditorium and are designed to be fun for everyone. Come and support EAC’s Music Department by bringing the whole family to this exciting annual musical event. Tickets are $5 per person and full-time EAC students will be admitted free with their ID.

The program will feature lively and soulful performances from the following musical groups: EACompany, Combined Choirs, Women’s Chorale, Men’s Chorus, A Cappella Choir, Men’s and Women’s Quartets, and the Men’s and Women’s 4x4 Jazz Ensemble.

“Our performance of The Story of Jephthah is a world premiere performance of the first English version of this 1650 Baroque oratorio by Carissimi,” said EAC Choir Director and Producer of the show Bruce Bishop. “There has heretofore never been an English performance of this wonderful work!”

Bishop translated the oratorio as part of his doctoral program and is thrilled to be performing it for the first time ever in English.

A patriotic segment of the program will have the Fine Arts Auditorium stage covered in American flags for performances of Yankee Doodle Fantasy, Yankee Doodle Madrigal, Yankee Doodle Hoedown, Yankee Doodle Barbershop, Yankee Doodle Jazz, Yankee Doodle Big Band, Yankee Doodle Rock and Roll, Yankee Doodle Jazz/Rock, Yankee Doodle Disco, Yankee Doodle Rap, and rousing rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandy.

Other selections planned for the show include pieces from My Favorite Year, Ragtime, Story of Jephthah (an oratorio), Miss Saigon, Company, Rent, The Secret Garden, Once on this Island, Wicked, Songs for a New World, and You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.
