THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College will host Holocaust survivor Andy Schot on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Noon, in the College’s Lee Little Theatre.

In 1942, when Schot was 11 years old, some of his family members were captured in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He managed to escape capture by hiding in farm fields and sleeping in barns during the cold months. Two years later, however, he was captured and was sent to a concentration camp in Papenburg in northwest Germany, where he did mostly slave labor in the fields. He was liberated when World War II ended a year later.

Schot will speak about his experiences avoiding capture, what he saw while in Papenburg, and what freedom means to him.

The public is invited to this rare event. For more information, contact EAC Sociology Instructor, Wayne Flake, at 428-8351.
