THATCHER, AZ—Sixty-nine students from Arizona’s community colleges, including a student from Eastern Arizona College, were honored February 8 at the All-Arizona Academic Team Honors Ceremony in Mesa. EAC student Teddy Nixon was part of an elite group of Arizona community college students who earned spots on the Twelfth Annual All-Arizona Academic Team for Arizona’s community colleges, and was chosen for the recognition based on her academic achievement, leadership, and service to the community.

As an All-Arizona Academic Third Team member, Nixon received a citation from Governor Janet Napolitano, a commemorative medallion, an in-state tuition waiver for two years to the Arizona university of her choice, and a $500 scholarship check.

Each student named to the All-Arizona Academic Team maintains at least a 3.25 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, is in good academic standing, is working towards an Associate Degree, and is involved in campus or community volunteerism.

The All-Arizona Academic Team award program is sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society, USA Today, and the American Association of Community Colleges.
