Thatcher, AZ—The songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein will fill EAC’s Fine Arts Auditorium in the Fine Arts Division's production of A Grand Night for Singing! on October 18-22, at 7:30 p.m. Be ready for a treat from Safford’s Cottage Bakery, too, as this will be a “dessert theatre” production, with the audience seated at tables in an arrangement reminiscent of a 1940’s supper club. Audiences will be entertained with new arrangements of classic songs from beloved musicals like South Pacific, The Sound of Music, The King and I, Oklahoma!, and many more. It is sure to be an elegant and fun night filled with singing and dancing! Shall We Dance? I bet you Cain’t Say No!
With stage direction and choreography by Steven James Higginbotham, EAC Fine Arts Division Chair; music direction by Chase Moore, EAC Director of Musical Theatre; set design by William H. Nidiffer, EAC Theatre Design and Production Instructor; costume designs by Timilee McNair, EAC Costumer; lighting and sound designs by Don Eller, Fine Arts Technician; and stage management by Darcy Cochran and Cecilia Abarca, the show promises to be a hit!
The talented cast of performers includes Mason Bennett, Gavin Bell, Aubry Farr, Camryn Hansen, and Amanda Striffolino.
Moore, a new professor at EAC who comes to the Gila Valley from Kentucky, said, “It is such an honor and pleasure to be serving as the new music director for A Grand Night for Singing. It has been wonderful to work with the student performers and to watch them flourish and grow. I sincerely hope that our audiences will enjoy this show and that they will fall in love with our exquisite cast and pit.”
Tickets are available at the box office before each performance or by calling Eastern Arizona College’s Ticket Office at (928) 428-8228. Advanced reservations are recommended, as seating for this production is very limited. General admission is $7 per person, and full-time EAC students will be admitted for free with a valid student ID. Come support the performing arts in your community, and enjoy songs from musical theatre’s Golden Age in Eastern Arizona College’s production of A Grand Night for Singing!
