Clifton and Virden students receive scholarships from Eastern Arizona College

Thatcher, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s 31st Annual Scholarship Banquet was held last month to recognize the scholastic achievements of over 75 EAC students.

The banquet, held at EAC’s campus in Thatcher, recognized donors and recipients of 49 scholarships. Many of the scholarships are annually funded by the generous contributions of various organizations and individuals, while others are endowed scholarships funded by the earnings of funds provided by the gifts of various donors.

Natalie Williams, of Clifton, daughter of Thomas and Eve Williams, received the George R. Bingham Jr. Memorial Drama Scholarship. Provided in loving memory of George R. Bingham Jr. by his family and friends, this scholarship is awarded to a full-time EAC student seeking a degree in Theatre and Cinematic Arts.

Emily Clouse, of Virden, NM, daughter of Kent and Shelly Clouse, received the Alumni Association Scholarship. This scholarship is made possible by the gifts of EAC alumni through annual fundraising and is awarded to children or grandchildren of EAC alumni who demonstrates exemplary character traits and academic ability.

Tanner O’Coyne, of Clifton, son of Todd and Cristina O’Coyne; and Kyle Wright, of Morenci, son of Bruce and Erica Wright, both received the Sumitomo-Freeport-McMoRan Scholarship. Established by the Sumitomo Metals Mining Corporation in honor of the 20th anniversary of their partnership with Phelps Dodge Corporation, this scholarship benefits industrial technology students.
