Storytelling event to feature Avondale storyteller, K. Sean Buvala
By Lori Dugan
THATCHER, AZ—Eastern Arizona College’s Speech Communications Department will be hosting storyteller K. Sean Buvala for a fun-for-the-whole-family storytelling event on December 1. The free, 7 p.m. event will be held in the Gherald L. Hoopes Jr. Activities Center-Lee Little Theatre.
One attendee at a Buvala storytelling event said, “This was a wonderful experience, beautifully written and performed. It brings back the tradition of story telling and places it squarely in our modern times!”
Buvala describes the collection of stories in his head as “life and legend” representing a mix of stories from his experiences, myths and legends, sacred stories, and observations of life events. He says his style is somewhere between “in your life and in your face.” Buvala knows that stories can change lives, facilitate learning, motivate business, and make a message stick in the minds of those who hear them.
Nationally traveled, his audiences have ranged from just a few people gathered in a living room—to groups of school children—to several thousand teens and adults.
“Sean is a master story teller. His unique style has inspired members of our communities. He has a way of making a story come alive so that the audience feels they are participating in the story itself,” said another workshop attendee.
