Thatcher, AZ—Earlier this month eight teachers from Graham, Greenlee, and Cochise counties took advantage of an opportunity to freshen up on their frog dissecting skills through a free Teacher Professional Development Workshop taught by EAC anatomy and physiology instructor Tammy Gillespie. This workshop was sponsored by the Eastern Arizona Science Initiative (EASI) and Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold, and was hosted at EAC’s Discovery Park Campus.

Each of the teacher participants received their own frog to work with as well as instructional information to take with them and use in their classrooms. The teachers also received two hours of continuing education credits to maintain their teaching certifications through Arizona Department of Education. In addition, each participant received a free one-year membership to the Arizona Science Teachers Association (ASTA), a valuable asset that includes a monthly newsletter on state-wide training opportunities and educational information, a quarterly TechPrep Magazine, and discounts to the annual ASTA conference for science teachers.

For more information on upcoming Teacher Professional Development opportunities, the Eastern Arizona Science Initiative events, or the Arizona Science Teachers Association events, please contact Paul Anger at the EAC Discovery Park Campus at (928) 428-6260 or email: paul.anger@eac.edu.
