Now is the time to complete your GED

By Jessica Morgenthaler

Thatcher, AZ—The GED (General Equivalency Degree) Testing Service is releasing a new version of the GED test on January 1, 2014. Test-takers, who are currently in the process of completing the battery of GED tests, must complete the current exam series by December 31, 2013. Candidates who do not complete the current series will have to start the GED over again in 2014. The cost to take the test is $80.

Individuals needing a refresher class should call the EAC Adult Education Department at (928) 428-6260. Individuals who are unsure of what subjects they still need to pass can call EAC’s evaluation technician, Jerri Lukens, at (928) 428-8491 to find out.

Then, schedule an appointment to register for the test, which will be administered according to the following schedule:

October 9 & 10, 2013, 5 – 9 p.m.

October 26, 2013, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

November 13 & 14, 2013, 5 – 9 p.m.

November 23, 2013, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

December 3 & 4, 2013, 8 a.m. – 12 noon

December 11 & 12, 2013, 5 – 9 p.m.

December 14, 2013, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

“Please do not delay,” says Lukens. “Study and test as soon as possible. I expect numerous last-minute testers toward the end of 2013, and I may not be able to test them all.”

The changes that will occur to the test in 2014 are minimal computer and keyboarding skills; paper-and-pencil testing will not be available; tests will be more difficult and challenging in terms of context knowledge in the five testing areas; and the cost will increase to approximately $150.

For more information contact Lukens at (928)-428-8491.
