Shaw Nets Second Conference P.O.W. Award of Season
THATCHER – Dreanne Shaw was honored by the ACCAC as the Division I Player of the Week for the second time this season for her two performances over the weekend.
Shaw led the way in EAC’s first match against host Arizona Western with 17 kills, six digs and a service ace. In the second match against Yavapai, she notched a team-high 13 kills to go with eight digs.
Her performances also moved her up to second in the nation with 4.47 kills per set, 10th in hitting efficiency at 0.44, and 18th in total kills with 304.
She leads the ACCAC in kills per set and hitting efficiency with those numbers and sits second in total kills.
With the two victories, the Gila Monsters win the outright ACCAC regular season championship and improve to 18-1 overall and 11-0 in conference play. After two more league matches, they will host the Region I Championship match on October 30 at 7 p.m. The winner advances to the District A Championship on November 10 at a site to be determined.
